Drowned Man in Nida Identified as Wakeboarding Enthusiast Modestas Lisauskas; Festival Events Canceled

The identity of a man who drowned in Nida has been confirmed as Modestas Lisauskas, a well-known figure in the local sports community and a long-time wakeboarding instructor. Lisauskas was remembered as an active and athletic individual who taught others to ski and wakeboard.

We never expected to have to experience what we are going through right now. A person drowned in Nida a few hours ago. We express our deepest condolences to the family and all who knew him.

The tragic incident occurred around 1:48 PM. According to Klaipėda County Police, initial reports indicated a person was drowning at sea. Emergency services responded, pulled the man from the water, and attempted resuscitation, but sadly, he could not be revived.

Although the tragedy occurred after the festival had already ended – we feel a responsibility to communicate with all services so that the circumstances are clarified as quickly as possible.

The drowning happened near the site of the 'Anna' festival, which featured dance music. However, the festival had officially concluded before the incident. Organizers expressed deep sorrow, offering condolences to Lisauskas's family and friends. They stated that while the tragedy occurred after the festival's official end, they felt a responsibility to cooperate with all authorities to clarify the circumstances.

In response to the profound sadness of the event, the festival organizers announced the cancellation of the day's planned activities. The statement emphasized their shock and grief, noting they never expected to experience such a tragedy. The investigation into the exact circumstances of the drowning is ongoing.
