Eight teenagers and man taken to hospital after crash on M50 in Dublin

A serious collision on Dublin's M50 motorway has left nine people in hospital, including eight teenagers who were in a car traveling the wrong way down a ramp. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning at Junction 12, Firhouse, on the southbound carriageway. The vehicle carrying the youths drove northbound on the southbound lane and collided head-on with another car as it entered the ramp. One of the teenagers is in critical condition, while the male driver of the second car, in his 20s, also suffered serious injuries. Gardaí and emergency services responded to the scene, and a Garda forensic collision examination is currently taking place. The Office of the Police Ombudsman has been notified. The M50 southbound between Junctions 12 and 11 remained closed for a period on Sunday afternoon. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, particularly those who were on the M50 between Junctions 11 and 14 in either direction, to come forward with any information.
