English Skills Training Launched for Mesuji Raya Teachers and Students

A collaborative effort between PT Prime Agri Resources Tbk (PAR) and Putera Sampoerna Foundation (PSF) is underway in Mesuji Raya to bolster English language proficiency among high school students and teachers. The program, running from April to December 2026, involves 35 tenth-grade students from SMA Negeri 1 Mesuji Raya and five teachers from both SMA Negeri 1 Mesuji Raya and SMK Negeri 1 Mesuji Raya.

The initiative aims to integrate English language skills with practical, everyday learning needs. For teachers, the curriculum includes strategies for reading comprehension, cooperative learning, writing development, and incorporating local wisdom into their teaching methods. Students, meanwhile, will focus on practical applications of English through contextualized materials.

Rudi Ismanto, General Manager of Plantation Area I Sumatera Regional Prime Agri Resources, stated that the company believes community development extends beyond physical infrastructure to human resource enhancement. "Through this program, we want to provide opportunities for teachers and students in Mesuji Raya to develop skills relevant to future needs."

The program utilizes workshops, coaching, and online mentoring to ensure participants can apply their learning in the classroom. Dian Ekawati, a participating teacher, found the experience highly beneficial, noting that it offered new insights into making English lessons more engaging and student-centered. The collaboration seeks to strengthen learning capacities and better prepare students for higher education and employment.
