Expect heavy traffic to Liepāja due to "Summer Sound" festival and roadworks

Festival-goers heading to Liepāja for the "Summer Sound" festival should prepare for significant traffic congestion and delays on routes leading to the coastal city. The event is expected to intensify traffic, particularly on the Liepāja highway (A9), where construction work is already causing disruptions.

On the A9, travelers face speed restrictions of 70 km/h and potential 15-minute delays in sections between Brīvkalni and Klīves. Further delays are expected between Blīdene and Purvkraga Brāļu kapi due to temporary traffic lights, extending crossing times to 30 minutes.

Major disruptions are also anticipated on the Daugavpils highway (A6) and the Daugavpils bypass (A14). Sections of the A6 will have temporary traffic lights and speed limits, leading to estimated crossing times of up to 40 minutes. Similarly, the A14 will experience delays of around 30 minutes due to multiple traffic control points.

Regional roads are also affected. The Gulbene–Balvi–Viļaka–Russia border road (P35) will have five temporary traffic lights between Litenes and Balvi, potentially causing 45-minute delays. Other affected routes include the Tīnuži–Koknese road (P80), Bauska–Aizkraukle road (P87), Ilmāja–Priekule–Lithuanian border road (P114), and Valdgal–Rojā road, with delays ranging from 25 minutes to an hour.
