Experience Life as a Farmer on Jeju: Youth 'Staycation' Program Offers Free Lodging and Activities

Young people can now experience life as a 'farmer' on Jeju Island through a new program offering free accommodation and meals for a week-long stay. Jeju Province is recruiting its first 11 participants for the 'Oasis Village' program, an initiative designed to foster connections between youth and rural communities.

The program, operated by Table Genie Inc. and selected for the Ministry of Interior and Safety's 'Youth Creation' project in 2026, will host participants in Seogwipo City's Pyoseon-myeon. The 6-night, 7-day experience, starting next month, allows participants from outside Jeju to cover only their travel and personal expenses, while accommodation, food, activities, and farming supplies are all provided.

Activities include cultivating and harvesting crops, exploring the village, interacting with residents, and immersing themselves in Jeju's unique culture. Applications are open until early next month via the Ministry of Interior and Safety's Youth Village website. A preliminary list of 20 candidates will be announced, followed by online interviews and final selections in early August.

To ensure commitment, selected participants must pay a 100,000 won deposit upon entering Oasis Village, which will be fully refunded upon program completion, unless damage is caused or the participant withdraws early.
