Father and One-Year-Old Son Die in Tragic Head-On Collision with Tree in San Lorenzo

A devastating traffic accident in San Lorenzo, Paraguay, claimed the lives of a 28-year-old man and his one-year-old son in the early hours of Saturday, August 1, 2026.

The fatal incident occurred around 3:20 AM in the Capilla del Monte neighborhood. According to reports from the 54th Central Police Station, the family was traveling in a gray Toyota Vitz when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The car then veered off the road and impacted a tree located on the central median with significant force.

Arturo Abel Gómez Carmagnola, 28, the driver and father, died at the scene due to the severity of the collision. Emergency services, including Volunteer Firefighters, responded swiftly to transport his partner, Griselda Mabel Guerie García, 21, and their young son to the Hospital de Trauma.

Tragically, medical personnel confirmed that the one-year-old child had already passed away upon arrival at the hospital. Griselda Mabel Guerie García sustained serious injuries and remains hospitalized in critical condition. Authorities, including the duty prosecutor Viviana Duarte, forensic doctors, and criminal investigators, are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine the exact cause.
