Fiorella Gatti Dominates Debut at Junior Squash World Championship

Paraguay's Fiorella Gatti made a spectacular debut at the 2026 Junior Squash World Championship, held in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. The 18-year-old secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Wei-Yu Pan of Chinese Taipei, advancing confidently to the Round of 32.

Gatti, who holds the No. 1 junior ranking in Paraguay, displayed exceptional skill, allowing her opponent only a few points across the three games. She won the first game with a perfect score of 11-0, followed by 11-2 and 11-2 victories in the subsequent games, demonstrating clear superiority.

This dominant performance sets Gatti up for her second-round match on Tuesday, July 21, where she will compete for a spot among the top 16 players globally. Her strong showing comes on the heels of a significant achievement: winning her third consecutive Pan American junior U19 championship in El Salvador.

The World Squash Federation (WSF) has recognized Gatti as one of the players to watch at the championship, placing her alongside the junior champions from Asia, Europe, and Oceania. She is competing under the guidance of Paraguayan coach Esteban Casarino at the prestigious White Oaks Resort & Spa, which hosts 185 of the world's top junior players from over 30 countries.
