Three Ecuadorian Forwards Vie for Liga Pro Top Scorer Title

The race for the Liga Pro's top scorer title in Ecuador is heating up, with three prominent forwards currently sharing the lead. Juan Luis Anangonó, Ronie Carrillo, and Emerson Pata have all netted eight goals apiece after the twentieth round of matches, keeping the competition for the season's top scorer title intensely close.

Ronie Carrillo, 29, was a standout performer in the latest round, scoring a brace in Mushuc Runa's 2-1 victory over Orense. This crucial win propelled him to the top of the goal-scoring chart, joining Anangonó and Pata.

Meanwhile, 37-year-old Anangonó continues to prove his enduring goal-scoring prowess and importance to Leones del Norte's attack. On Saturday, he scored the decisive goal in their 0-1 away win against Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito, a club where he previously had a successful stint. Pata, a 22-year-old winger for Independiente del Valle, also demonstrated his current offensive form by scoring one of the goals in their commanding 6-1 victory over Emelec.

Independiente del Valle solidified their position as the undisputed league leaders with this win, now holding a 14-point advantage over their closest competitor, Aucas. Following the leading trio, Djorkaeff Reasco, also from Independiente del Valle, and Edison Mero of Guayaquil City are close behind, each with seven goals.
