Former Bishop Finn Wagle (84) has died

Former Bishop of Nidaros, Finn Wagle, has passed away at the age of 84. His passing was confirmed by his family to Vårt Land. Wagle was a prominent figure in the Church of Norway, serving as the Bishop of Nidaros from 1991 to 2008 and as the Presiding Bishop from 2002 to 2006.

Olav Fykse Tveit, the current Presiding Bishop of the Church of Norway, remembered Wagle as a significant church leader of modern times and a great gift to the church. Tveit personally viewed Wagle as a great motivator and role model.

During his tenure as bishop, Wagle officiated at several key ceremonies, including the consecration of King Harald and Queen Sonja in Nidaros Cathedral in 1991, and the wedding of Princess Märtha Louise and Ari Behn in the same cathedral in 2002. His contributions and leadership have left a lasting impact on the Church of Norway.
