Four Arrested in Mexico City for Extortion and Shooting Incident

Authorities in Mexico City have apprehended four individuals suspected of engaging in extortion and firing shots at a private residence in the Gustavo A. Madero borough. The arrests follow a report from a 27-year-old woman who claimed the group demanded money in exchange for 'protection' of her home and threatened her when she refused.

According to the official report, the situation escalated when the suspects allegedly fired shots at the woman's house after she rejected their demands. Responding officers located the group as they were attempting to flee in a vehicle. A subsequent search led to the seizure of a handgun with several live rounds, approximately 40 small bags containing a substance resembling marijuana, and a mobile phone.

The detained individuals, comprising three males aged 16, 18, and 24, and a 46-year-old woman, have been handed over to the Public Ministry. They will face legal proceedings to determine their culpability and appropriate sentencing. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges with organized crime and extortion rackets operating within the capital.
