Four detained in Vietnam for murder over 180 million dong debt

Police in Vietnam's An Giang province have detained four people in connection with the death of a man they were demanding a 180 million dong debt from. The suspects, identified as Bui Truong Thanh, 29, Dinh Van Minh Tien, 33, Nguyen Tran Minh Tuan, 33, and a 16-year-old identified as H.T.Đ, are being investigated for murder.

The incident occurred on the evening of July 22, when Thanh, Tien, H.T.Đ, and Tuan allegedly confronted the victim, identified as C.N.K, 31, outside a guesthouse. Thanh demanded repayment of the debt, but the victim stated he had no money. According to investigators, Thanh then began assaulting the victim, with Tien and H.T.Đ joining in the physical attack. Reports indicate they also used wooden sticks to beat him for approximately 15 minutes.

During the assault, Tuan reportedly did not participate in the physical beating but did not intervene and instead verbally threatened the victim. After the victim's condition worsened, the group stopped the assault. Tuan and H.T.Đ took the victim to a local medical center, but he was transferred to An Giang General Hospital due to severe injuries. He died on the morning of July 23. Following the incident, Thanh, Tien, H.T.Đ, and Tuan voluntarily surrendered to the Tri Ton Commune Police.
