FRSC confirms 15 dead, 25 injured in Niger road crash

Fifteen travelers were killed and 25 others hospitalized following a devastating road crash in Niger state, Nigeria. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the fatalities and injuries resulting from the incident.

The accident occurred along the Enagi-Mokwa Road on Saturday evening and involved two buses traveling from the same direction. Reports indicate a head-on collision ignited a fire that engulfed both vehicles, leading to the tragic deaths of 15 passengers.

The accident was as a result of overspeeding and wrongfully overtaking.

Twenty-five other travelers sustained injuries and were transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Bida and the General Hospital in Kutigi for medical attention. The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Niger, Aishatu Sa’adu, stated that the crash was caused by overspeeding and wrongful overtaking at a bend.

Sa’adu urged motorists to adhere to speed limits and refrain from dangerous overtaking maneuvers to prevent future accidents. The FRSC continues to advocate for safer road practices across the state.
