Gang Linked to 'Los Pulpos' Dismantled After Double Murder at Trujillo Party; New Attack Foiled

In a significant blow to organized crime in Trujillo, the Peruvian National Police (PNP) have apprehended five individuals believed to be part of "Los Terribles de Trujillo," a faction connected to the notorious "Los Pulpos" network. This operation, carried out by the Divincri and Depincri Norte, directly addresses the recent violent attack during a family gathering in Florencia de Mora on April 25, which tragically claimed two lives and left ten others wounded.

The captured suspects are not only implicated in this brutal double homicide but are also allegedly involved in plotting a new assassination targeting a prominent local businesswoman. This revelation underscores the pervasive threat of contract killings and organized violence plaguing the region, a persistent concern for residents and authorities alike.

Following a meticulous surveillance operation, police successfully located the vehicle used in the attack. This led them to an address in La Esperanza district, where four suspects were detained. A fifth was apprehended later in Alto Trujillo while attempting to alter the vehicle's appearance to evade identification. The investigation revealed that the group intended to repaint the car and use fake license plates for future criminal activities.

This bust is a crucial step in dismantling these criminal networks that operate with impunity. The recovery of stolen motorcycles and other evidence from the scene further strengthens the police's case and may link the arrested individuals to other violent incidents in Trujillo during April, including the homicides of Diane Aguilar Yupanqui and engineer Óscar Lavado de la Cruz.
