Ghana police arrest 14 for drug cultivation and distribution

Police in Ghana's Upper East region have arrested 14 people suspected of cultivating and distributing narcotic drugs in Daliga, Nabdam District. The arrests occurred on Sunday, August 16, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation by the Police Intelligence Directorate and the Black Cobra Team.

The suspects, identified by the police, were allegedly involved in growing and supplying drugs across the region. During the operation, a significant quantity of suspected Indian hemp was found hidden in sacks of millet and maize. Preliminary investigations suggest the drugs were cultivated alongside these crops to avoid detection.

This operation is part of the Police Command's broader strategy to dismantle the networks responsible for the cultivation, distribution, and supply of narcotic drugs in the region. The Command urged the public to continue reporting suspicious activities related to drug cultivation and distribution to aid security agencies.
