Global Sumud Flotilla Faces Interception by Israeli Forces Near Greece

The Global Sumud Flotilla's journey to Gaza, intended as a humanitarian mission to pierce the blockade, has been met with what appears to be Israeli obstruction. Reports from the scene indicate that 11 out of the 56 ships in the convoy lost contact after being approached by vessels claiming to be from the Israeli military in international waters off the coast of Greece.

According to Maimon Herawati, a member of the Steering Committee for the Global Sumud Flotilla, the ships were ordered to turn back. She described the incident, stating that some vessels reported being approached by a ship identifying itself as Israeli, with its crew pointing semi-automatic weapons and forcing participants to kneel. The subsequent loss of contact with 11 ships is suspected to be due to radio signal jamming by the intercepting vessels.
