Greece's DYPA to Announce Social Tourism Program Results Next Week

The Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA) is gearing up to release the preliminary results for its highly anticipated Social Tourism Program for 2026-2027. This initiative, designed to offer subsidized holidays to citizens, has seen an overwhelming response, with 816,000 applications submitted for the available 300,000 vouchers. The program boasts a significant budget of 50 million euros, underscoring its importance in supporting both citizens and the tourism sector.

The evaluation process is currently underway, utilizing DYPA's integrated information system. A points-based system will determine eligibility for accommodation and ferry subsidies, with specific exceptions for large families who meet the participation criteria. This system aims to ensure fairness and transparency in the allocation of these valuable vouchers.

Following the announcement of preliminary results, a period for appeals will commence, allowing applicants to submit electronic objections. The vouchers themselves will be valid from May 18, 2026, for a twelve-month period. The program offers varying lengths of subsidized stays, with up to ten free nights on certain islands and even twelve free nights in specific less-developed or disaster-affected areas like Northern Evia, Evros, and Thessaly, reflecting a targeted approach to regional support.

Furthermore, the program includes subsidies for ferry travel, with a 25% co-payment for most, and full exemption for individuals with disabilities. The value of these subsidies will see a 20% increase during peak seasons, including August, Christmas, and Easter, making travel more accessible during popular holiday periods. This comprehensive approach highlights DYPA's commitment to making tourism a tangible benefit for a broad segment of the Greek population.
