Indonesian forest fires spread across 180 football fields

Indonesia is grappling with significant forest fires that are rapidly spreading across national parks in both West and East Java. The blazes are consuming vast areas, with one fire alone reportedly covering an area equivalent to 180 football fields.

In West Java, firefighters and rescue teams are intensely focused on containing a fire within Gunung Gede National Park. The Kawah Wadon area has seen a massive deployment of over 140 personnel. This includes members of the local disaster mitigation agency (BPBD), military, police, firefighters, and volunteers, all working tirelessly to control the spread.

Simultaneously, authorities are engaged in a difficult struggle against another fire in East Java's Gunung Bromo National Park. The dual fronts highlight the scale of the challenge facing Indonesia's environmental agencies and emergency services as they work to protect these vital natural reserves from the destructive force of the fires.
