Indonesian Underprivileged Receive Garment Skills and Job Aid

Fifty underprivileged residents in Kendal, Indonesia, have acquired new skills and job prospects through a vocational training program. The initiative, which focused on garment manufacturing and operator skills, ran from August 10 to 15, 2026. It was a joint effort by Baznas RI, Ruang Amal Indonesia, and Baznas Kendal.

The training took place at the KPRI Hikmah Hall in the Kendal Religious Affairs Office. The opening ceremony was attended by Kendal Regent Dyah Kartika Permanasari, Deputy Chairman II of Baznas Central Java H M Zain Yusuf, CEO of Ruang Amal Indonesia Slamet, and local religious and government officials.

Regent Dyah Kartika Permanasari praised the collaboration for offering the community, particularly the less fortunate, a chance to improve their competencies and access employment. She noted the growing industrial area in Kendal, including the Kendal Industrial Area (KIK), makes strengthening work skills increasingly vital for local economic growth.

H M Zain Yusuf, Deputy Chairman II of Baznas Central Java, emphasized the need for synergy between Baznas, zakat institutions, government, and industry. This ensures that empowerment extends beyond training to actual job placement. He urged participants to make the most of the opportunity.

Slamet, CEO of Ruang Amal Indonesia, shared that similar past programs, also in collaboration with Baznas RI, achieved a 93.3% employment rate for participants, underscoring the program's effectiveness in connecting trained individuals with jobs.
