Indonesia is taking a significant strategic leap towards industrial self-sufficiency with the MIND ID holding company spearheading an integrated downstream processing initiative for copper and gold. This ambitious plan is not merely about extracting resources; it's a deliberate effort to fortify our domestic supply chains and maximize the value derived from our mineral wealth, thereby bolstering our manufacturing sector.

The development is centered at the JIIPE Gresik industrial area, designed as a multimodal hub with an integrated logistics ecosystem. This infrastructure is crucial for streamlining the entire process, from upstream extraction to downstream refining of copper and gold. As a first step, PT Freeport Indonesia is supplying copper cathodes to PT Pindad, which will be transformed into brass mill and brass cup products. This synergy is vital for strengthening the defense industry's supply chain, particularly for ammunition components.
