Interim PM to discuss accusations with Government Secretary General

Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced he would meet with Government Secretary General Cristina Trăilă on Wednesday morning to discuss accusations leveled against her. Bolojan stated he was unaware of the specific charges but would review the situation before making any decisions.

I saw the prosecutor's statement, I asked Cristina Trăilă to come tomorrow morning so we can have a discussion and we will make a decision. I don't know what she is accused of and what her role is in this equation. I need to see the situation, I try not to condemn anyone.

Cristina Trăilă is currently under criminal investigation by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) in connection with a case involving businessman Fănel Bogoș. Prosecutors allege that Trăilă supported Bogoș's attempts to influence the president of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA). The alleged actions took place between November 3-4, 2025.

According to the DNA, Trăilă's support was aimed at facilitating Bogoș's efforts to replace the director of the Veterinary and Food Safety Directorate (DSVSA) Vaslui with an individual acceptable to him. The prosecution claims this was intended to secure undue benefits for Bogoș and his company, including the approval of a compensation file worth approximately 3 million euros and a reduction in veterinary controls at his farms.

Following the DNA's announcement, both the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) called for Trăilă's immediate resignation. AUR emphasized political responsibility, while PSD demanded her swift departure from her government position.

The suspect Cristina Trăilă, in her capacity as Deputy Secretary General of the Government of Romania, allegedly supported the actions of defendant Barbu Mihai in exercising influence over the president of A.N.S.V.S.A., with the aim of replacing the director of D.S.V.S.A. Vaslui with a person approved by defendant B.F. The pursued goal would have been to obtain undue benefits for defendant B.F. and for the company owned by him, consisting, among other things, in the approval of a compensation file worth approximately 3 million euros, as well as in the reduction or cessation of sanitary-veterinary controls at the company's farms.
