Irfan, Yusof receive Special Award at SAM-100PLUS 2025

Malaysia celebrates its sporting prowess as two exceptional athletes, Muhammad Irfan Shamsuddin and Mohamad Yusof Hafizi Shaharuddin, are honored with the prestigious Special Award at the SAM-100PLUS Awards 2025. This recognition highlights their outstanding achievements and contributions to the nation's sporting landscape.

Muhammad Irfan Shamsuddin, the nation's discus throw champion, has solidified his status as a regional powerhouse. His continued dominance at the Southeast Asian Games, securing his seventh consecutive gold medal while setting a new Games record at the 2025 Thailand SEA Games, is a testament to his dedication and skill. Irfan's journey began with multi-sport involvement before focusing on discus at 17, eventually breaking national records and surpassing a 26-year-old Singaporean record.

His journey, starting with casual rides in his hometown, has culminated in world-class success, adding to his previous accolades including medals at the ASEAN Para Games and a fifth-place finish at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

Mohd Hazreen Nor Mubarak, Vice President of SAM and Chairman of the Award Organizing Committee, emphasized that the success of these athletes did not come easily, requiring immense sacrifice beyond mere training. The SAM-100PLUS Awards aim to ignite the passion of not only Irfan and Yusof but also emerging talents in Malaysian sports, reinforcing the message that success is built on sacrifice and perseverance.
