"Islamic Cooperation" condemns Israeli occupation's attack on the Global Solidarity Fleet heading to Gaza Strip

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a powerful condemnation of the Israeli occupation forces' aggression against the "Global Solidarity Fleet" in international waters. This humanitarian aid convoy, comprised of activists from numerous nations, was on a mission to draw attention to and alleviate the unprecedented human suffering in Gaza, a direct consequence of the illegal Israeli blockade.

The General Secretariat condemned, in the strongest terms, the crime of aggression carried out by the Israeli occupation forces in international waters against the Global Solidarity Fleet, which includes activists from dozens of countries on a relief mission aimed at highlighting and alleviating the unprecedented human suffering in the Gaza Strip, as a result of the illegal Israeli blockade.

The OIC's statement unequivocally labels the attack as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and relevant United Nations resolutions. These international frameworks mandate the protection of humanitarian aid workers and the unimpeded delivery of assistance. The organization holds the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the safety and well-being of the participants in this humanitarian convoy.

The General Secretariat affirmed that this crime constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and relevant United Nations resolutions, which affirm the necessity of protecting humanitarian aid workers and ensuring the unimpeded delivery of aid.

Furthermore, the OIC has urged the international community to take necessary measures to investigate this crime, ensuring justice and accountability under international criminal law. The organization reiterated the critical need to implement the second phase of the peace plan, as outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 2803, which includes opening all crossings and guaranteeing the protection of humanitarian personnel to ensure unhindered aid flow into Gaza.

The General Secretariat held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the lives and safety of the participants in this humanitarian convoy, and called on the international community to take the necessary measures to investigate this crime, and ensure justice and accountability under international criminal law.
