Jakarta LRT to Extend to Dukuh Atas, Targeting August 2028 Completion

The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, confirmed that the Jakarta Light Rail Transit (LRT) system will be extended to Dukuh Atas. Construction for this new segment is slated to begin next year, with an anticipated completion date of August 2028. This development follows discussions with financial officials and PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), the city's development company.

Currently, the Velodrome-Manggarai LRT line is nearing completion, with progress at 97.9 percent. This 6.4-kilometer segment is part of the larger Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT line, which spans 12.2 kilometers. Operations for the Velodrome-Manggarai section are expected to commence by the end of August.

This corridor, representing an investment of Rp12.1 trillion, will feature 11 stops. Once fully operational, the LRT Jakarta system is projected to serve approximately 60,000 passengers daily in its initial phase, with expectations of reaching up to 80,000 passengers per day under normal conditions. The service is planned to run from 5:00 AM to midnight, with each train set capable of carrying 275 passengers.

The DKI Jakarta provincial government is also pursuing further LRT connectivity to other strategic areas. Plans include extending the line from Kelapa Gading to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and from Velodrome to the Whoosh high-speed train station in Halim. Governor Anung expressed confidence that these connections, alongside the completion of the East-West MRT line, will lead to a significant increase in public transportation use across Jakarta.
