Jalan Abdul Muis closed due to fire at Bapenda DKI Jakarta building

Central Jakarta's Jalan Abdul Muis has been completely closed to traffic following a fire that engulfed the DKI Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) building. The closure is in effect until the fire is fully extinguished and the area is cooled down, according to Central Jakarta Police Chief Kombes Reynold EP Hutagalung.

"The Abdul Muis route is still closed," Kombes Reynold stated at the scene early Saturday. The decision to close the vital thoroughfare aims to guarantee the safety of the public and ensure the smooth operations of the fire department. Access is restricted from both the Harmoni and Budi Kemuliaan directions.

Police have implemented traffic diversions from all approaches to the fire site. "Considering that the routes from Harmoni and from Budi Kemuliaan are currently closed, (because) it is happening concurrently with the cooling (of the fire)," Kombes Reynold explained the technical reasons behind the closure. The police apologized for the inconvenience caused to road users by the disruption of this key Jakarta artery.

To manage the situation, 125 personnel from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police and 50 from the Central Jakarta Military District (Kodim 0501) have been deployed. Their presence ensures that fire trucks have unobstructed access and that ambulances can quickly reach the scene if medical assistance is needed. The public is urged to stay away from the area to allow emergency services to perform their duties optimally.
