Jang shaped my political journey, says Gov Mutfwang

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has described former governor Senator Jonah Jang as a pivotal figure in shaping his political journey, honoring him as a role model and a source of inspiration for his administration. Mutfwang's remarks came during the public presentation of Jang's autobiography, "From Soldiering to Politics: Here I Stand," held as part of celebrations for Jang's 80th birthday in Jos.

I am privileged and highly honoured to be alive to witness this day and to have the privilege of serving as the chief host as you celebrate your 80th birthday.

Mutfwang emphasized that Jang's influence extended beyond his own rise to governorship, highlighting the former military officer's embodiment of purposeful leadership, discipline, and unwavering commitment to public service. "I am privileged and highly honored to be alive to witness this day and to have the privilege of serving as the chief host as you celebrate your 80th birthday," Mutfwang stated, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to honor Jang.

I have looked for opportunities to show you my honour, and today God has given me the opportunity to fulfil a pledge I made to Him that as long as I live, I will honour you.

The governor commended Jang for establishing a strong foundation for Plateau's development, particularly in infrastructure, governance, and institution building. He noted that Jang's achievements remain evident across the state, setting a standard for subsequent administrations. Mutfwang pledged to uphold Jang's developmental vision, revealing that his government is actively working to complete strategic projects initiated during Jang's term but left unfinished.

This is not only because of the role you played in my emergence as Governor of Plateau State, but because you became a role model for me to follow.

Mutfwang also hailed Jang's autobiography as a significant contribution to Nigeria's political history, predicting it will preserve the experiences of a prominent statesman and serve as a guide for future leaders. He urged young Nigerians to emulate Jang's values of integrity, courage, discipline, and selfless service, asserting that true leadership is measured by impact and legacy rather than the positions held.
