Jeong Kyeong-seop Secures PBA Top Tour Spot Through Q-School

In a significant achievement for his professional billiards career, Jeong Kyeong-seop has successfully navigated the rigorous PBA Q-School, securing his position in the top division for the upcoming season. Jeong, who was a runner-up in the PBA's inaugural season, demonstrated his enduring skill and determination by winning three consecutive matches on the opening day of the second round of Q-School, held at the KINTEX PBA Stadium in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. This victory ensures his continued participation in the premier PBA Tour.

The PBA Q-School serves as a crucial battleground for players seeking to earn or retain their spots in the top-tier league. It brings together players ranked 61st and below from the previous season's first division, along with top contenders from the second division (Dream Tour). The competition is fierce, with participants vying for a limited number of berths in the elite 120-player field of the PBA 1st Division.

I easily defeated Choi Yeon-gil 40-20 (in 22 innings), and then beat Lee Hae-dong and Yoon Seong-su, to achieve the joy of passing the Q-School.

Jeong's performance was particularly impressive, as he decisively defeated his opponents, including Choi Yeon-gil, Lee Hae-dong, and Yoon Seong-su, in quick succession. His early success on the first day of the second round allowed him to comfortably secure his 1st Division status, avoiding the pressure of the final day's matches. He was among the ten players who clinched their 1st Division tickets on the first day, alongside other familiar names from the professional circuit.

However, the competition remains intense for other notable players. Hwang Deuk-hee and Han Ji-seung, who were part of the team league last season, failed to secure their spots on the first day. They, along with the remaining 61 participants, will face a do-or-die situation on the second and final days of the second round, where approximately nine more 1st Division tickets are up for grabs. The outcome of these remaining matches will determine the final roster for the upcoming PBA season, highlighting the high stakes involved in the Q-School.
