Jeonnam Province Offers 30% Discount on Abalone and Freshwater Eel Online

In an effort to support its vital aquaculture sector, Jeonnam Province is launching a significant online sales promotion. Recognizing the challenges faced by abalone and freshwater eel farmers due to decreased demand and falling prices, the provincial government is stepping in with a substantial 30% discount on these products via the 'Namdo Jangte' online shopping mall.

This 'Seafood Consumption Promotion Online Special Exhibition' is timed perfectly with the 'Family Month' in May, a period typically associated with increased family gatherings and dining. By offering these popular seafood items at a more accessible price point, Jeonnam Province aims to stimulate consumer spending and provide much-needed relief to local producers. The promotion is scheduled to run until May 31st, though it may conclude early if the allocated budget is exhausted.

This initiative is not an isolated event but part of a larger strategy by Jeonnam Province to bolster the seafood industry. Previously, the province collaborated with Pulmuone Food & Culture to develop nine special abalone dishes for rest stops. Looking ahead, a partnership with Ottogi is set to introduce abalone porridge made with domestic abalone in May. These collaborations underscore a proactive approach to diversifying product offerings and creating new markets for local seafood.

The provincial government's commitment extends to supporting group catering and promotional events, all aimed at increasing the consumption of local seafood like abalone and freshwater eel.
