Kaohsiung driver faces multiple fines after trunk left open on road

Authorities in Kaohsiung are investigating a driver after a video surfaced online showing a car traveling with its trunk open. The incident, captured and shared on social media, has drawn the attention of the Gushan Police Precinct.

Police reviewed the footage and identified three distinct traffic violations committed by the vehicle. The most apparent offense is driving with the trunk unsecured, which violates Article 43 of the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act. This offense carries a fine of NT$1,000 to NT$6,000 and requires the vehicle to be corrected or prohibited from driving.

Further examination of the video revealed the car failed to obey a green traffic signal, a violation punishable by a fine of up to NT$1,800. Additionally, a passenger was seen exiting the vehicle while it was in a traffic lane. This action contravenes Article 78 of the same act, which prohibits standing in a manner that obstructs traffic on busy roads, and could result in a fine of up to NT$500.

The Gushan Police Precinct stated they will pursue the driver's legal responsibility based on the video evidence and related facts. The driver is expected to be fined for all three infractions.
