Kazakhstan Takes First Place in Team Standings at 2026 World Nomad Games

Kazakhstan finished first in the team standings at the sixth World Nomad Games, according to Kyrgyz presidential spokesman Askat Alagozov.

He said the games concluded at a high level and became a major sporting celebration. In kok-boru and land goat games, Kyrgyz and Kazakh teams performed strongly, while the rivalry stayed on the field. Alagozov also said no problems arose among the fans.

The final medal calculation included a technical difference. The organizing committee decided to count the medals of three Kazakh athletes separately, leading Kazakhstan to take first place overall. Alagozov congratulated the country’s athletes on the result.

Kok-boru and land goat showed once again that the Kyrgyz and Kazakh teams performed excellently, and that the rivalry remains only on the playing field. There were no problems among the fans either.

He also praised Kyrgyz competitors for demonstrating their strength and skill. “Medal counts are part of sport, but the greatest victory of these games was that we held the competition with mutual respect and once again showed the unity of brotherly peoples,” he said.

The sixth World Nomad Games were held in Kyrgyzstan from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6, 2026. The opening ceremony took place at Bishkek Arena, while the main sporting, cultural and scientific events continued around Issyk-Kul. The kokpar and kok-boru finals were held in Cholpon-Ata on Sept. 6, followed by the closing ceremony that evening.
