Kazakhstan Weather Service Warns of Poor Air Quality in Three Cities

Kazhydromet, Kazakhstan's national weather service, has issued an alert for residents in Almaty, Aktobe, and Atyrau, warning of potentially poor air quality on Thursday.

The warning specifically forecasts "unfavorable meteorological conditions" in these cities. This term refers to a combination of weather factors like calm winds, light breezes, fog, and temperature inversions. These conditions can trap pollutants near the ground, leading to a deterioration in air quality.

In Almaty, the forecast predicts variable cloudiness with no precipitation, northeasterly winds at 3-8 meters per second, and temperatures ranging from 14-16°C overnight to 30-32°C during the day. Aktobe will experience variable cloudiness and no rain, with northwesterly winds at 7-12 meters per second, and temperatures between 12-14°C at night and 25-27°C during the day.

Atyrau is expected to have partly cloudy skies with no precipitation. Winds will be northerly, shifting from 1-6 meters per second at night to 6-11 meters per second during the day. Nighttime temperatures will be 16-18°C, with daytime highs reaching 29-31°C.
