Kazuyoshi Miura Scores First Goal in Four Years at 59

Kazuyoshi Miura, the 59-year-old Japanese football icon known as "King Kazu," has once again defied age, scoring his first goal in nearly four years. The veteran striker netted in the 52nd minute for Fukushima United, extending their lead to 5-0 in a dominant 7-0 victory over Iwaki Furukawa in the Emperor's Cup on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

This remarkable goal marks Miura's first competitive strike since November 2022, when he played for Suzuka PG. At 59, his continued presence on the field and ability to score further cement his legendary status in Japanese football, where he was a key figure at the launch of the J-League in 1993.

Miura's professional career, now in its 42nd season, began in 1986 with Brazilian club Santos. He has since played across Brazil, Italy, Croatia, and Australia before returning to Japan. He is currently on loan at Fukushima United from J2 League club Yokohama FC, a loan spell extended until June 2027.

Internationally, Miura boasts an impressive record of 55 goals in 89 appearances for the Japanese national team. With his sights set on playing until he turns 60, Miura continues to inspire with his enduring passion and dedication to the sport.
