Kwara APC waxes stronger, ready to win elections - Gov AbdulRazaq

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq declared on Monday that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state is significantly stronger and well-positioned to achieve an overwhelming victory in the 2027 general elections. Speaking at the APC Youth Engagement 2026 event in Ilorin, AbdulRazaq expressed confidence in the party's prospects, emphasizing its current strength compared to a weakened opposition.

SYD is part and parcel of this administration. All the projects that you see us doing today were appropriated under his leadership at the State House of Assembly. Some of them go on the television and start saying he doesn’t have the experience. How can you say a Speaker of (almost) eight years does not have experience?

The governor detailed his administration's efforts since 2019, stating they inherited a "collapsed system" and have since worked to rectify issues in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. He specifically pointed to the education sector's revival, noting that teachers were once paid in percentages and that the UBEC funds were diverted under the previous administration, leading to a collapse in school attendance. AbdulRazaq asserted that Kwara has transformed into one of Nigeria's leading states under his leadership.

AbdulRazaq used the platform to endorse the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Salihu Yakubu Danladi, as the gubernatorial candidate for 2027. He defended Danladi's experience, highlighting his nearly eight years as Speaker and his integral role in the current administration's projects. "How can you say a Speaker of (almost) eight years does not have experience?" the governor questioned, urging party faithful to work diligently towards victory.

We are not complacent but at the same time, our party has now become stronger than ever, while the opposition is much weaker than how they were in the previous elections. We should, however, do more hard work in order to attain victory. Insha Allah, 2027 shall be the year of victory.

The governor commended the youth for their substantial turnout at the engagement event, viewing it as a sign of endorsement for his administration and Danladi's candidacy. He urged party members to mobilize at the ward, zone, and polling booth levels, stressing that while they are not complacent, continued hard work is essential for securing the win in 2027. The event saw candidates for various elective offices express gratitude to the governor and party leadership.

Our education sector had collapsed when we came in. That was when the same PDP (government) diverted the UBEC funds. That was when the teachers became farmers, and the school attendance dropped. It was a complete collapse of the system. But we came and turned things around. And today they can proudly say that Kwara is one of the leading states in Nigeria.
