Kyrgyzstan Pushes for Joint Green Energy Projects at SCO Forum

At the SCO forum on green and sustainable development in Ningbo, China, Kyrgyzstan's Special Representative for Special Assignments, Bakyt Torobaev, articulated a clear vision for the nation's engagement with the organization. Torobaev emphasized Kyrgyzstan's strong commitment to advancing collaborative green energy initiatives, embracing innovative technologies, and fostering sustainable infrastructure development across the SCO space. The nation has put forth a significant proposal: the 'Initiative for Joint Actions of SCO States on Conservation and Sustainable Management of Eurasian Biodiversity.' This initiative, Torobaev expressed, is designed to bolster cooperation towards global ecological sustainability and achieve a harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, a goal for which he earnestly seeks the support of all SCO member states.

Kyrgyzstan views its relationship with the People's Republic of China as a paramount priority. The special representative pointed to the robust comprehensive strategic partnership, built on mutual respect, trust, and good neighborliness. He specifically referenced the highly productive interactions in 2025, including visits by the Kyrgyz head of state to China, which significantly strengthened bilateral ties and injected new momentum into cooperation across various sectors. China remains a vital economic partner for Kyrgyzstan, with joint projects underway in transport infrastructure, energy, industry, and logistics. The ongoing development of key transport corridors, such as the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and the Barskoon-Bedel highway, exemplifies this deepening collaboration and its potential to enhance regional connectivity under the Belt and Road Initiative.
