Lithuania Hosts Europe's Largest STEM Festival, Welcoming 500 Teachers

Lithuania proudly hosts the "Science on Stage Festival 2026," the largest STEM education festival in Europe, bringing together 500 educators from 34 nations. This event, held for the first time in Lithuania, signifies a major opportunity for our country to showcase its advancements in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education on an international stage. President Gitanas Nausėda highlighted the critical role of the STEAM model in cultivating the 21st-century generation, emphasizing the need for critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation.

STEAM education model, which combines natural sciences, technologies, engineering, arts, and mathematics, is ideally suited for educating the young generation of the 21st century.

Minister of Education, Science, and Sport Raminta Popovienė expressed her delight in Lithuania being the host nation, noting the invaluable chance for Lithuanian teachers to exchange innovative STEM practices with European colleagues. She stressed that investing in teachers' skills and international collaborations is an investment in the future, aiming to inspire more students to pursue science and engineering careers. The festival's theme, "STEAM Education: Where Innovation Meets Creativity and Responsibility," perfectly encapsulates the forward-thinking approach championed by Lithuania's educational leadership.

I am glad that this year the international festival "Science on Stage Festival 2026" will be held in Lithuania and our teachers will have the opportunity to exchange the most innovative STEM education practices with colleagues from other European countries, to look for new ideas.

Valdas Jankauskas, Director of the Lithuanian Agency for Non-Formal Education (LINEŠA), one of the festival's organizers, views this event as a prime opportunity to forge new partnerships and encourage teachers to experiment with and share innovative teaching methods. Eglė Vaivadienė, the national coordinator for "Science on Stage" in Lithuania, conveyed the excitement and honor of hosting such a significant event. Klaipėda University, a key organizer, is set to present top STEAM projects, underscoring Lithuania's commitment to fostering a vibrant and internationally recognized academic and educational community in the STEAM field.
