Lithuania's 'Connected Lithuania' project empowers over 30,000 with digital government service skills

The "Prisijungusi Lietuva" (Connected Lithuania) project has achieved a significant milestone, empowering over 30,000 Lithuanian citizens with essential digital skills for accessing government services online. This national initiative, spanning from August to April across all 60 municipalities, has demonstrably bridged the digital divide, equipping residents with the knowledge to confidently use platforms like e-health, social security, and e-registration.

As reported by Delfi, the project's success lies in its practical, hands-on approach. Participants engaged in workshops covering a wide array of e-services, from healthcare appointments and employment services to managing personal data and utilizing library resources. This focus on real-world application ensures that the skills acquired are immediately useful, fostering greater independence and reducing reliance on traditional, often time-consuming, administrative processes.

Notably, the program has made significant strides in reaching demographics that often face digital exclusion. A substantial portion of participants, over 75%, were women, and more than two-thirds were over 55 years old. This targeted outreach extended to individuals in remote areas and those facing social marginalization, fulfilling a core objective of the "Prisijungusi Lietuva" initiative. The high satisfaction rate, with over 99% feeling prepared to use e-services independently and 94% rating the content highly, underscores the program's effectiveness.
