Magdalena Contreras registers decrease in perceived insecurity; changes due to neighbor-focused security strategy, says mayor

Magdalena Contreras is making tangible progress in enhancing citizen security, a fact reflected in the latest National Urban Public Security Survey (ENSU) by INEGI. Our administration is proud to report a significant decrease in the perception of insecurity among our residents, dropping by seven percentage points from 65.2% in December 2025 to 58.2% in March 2026. This notable improvement is not accidental; it is the direct result of a comprehensive strategy prioritizing crime prevention, fostering closer police-citizen relationships, and reclaiming public spaces for community use.

Our approach is fundamentally about being present and responsive to the needs of our neighbors. The General Directorate of Citizen Security and Citizen Mobility has been instrumental, strengthening surveillance operations, refining police proximity models, revitalizing parks and public areas, and focusing interventions on high-priority zones. These actions demonstrate our commitment to creating safer environments where families can thrive and feel secure.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Head of Government, Clara Brugada, and the President, Claudia Sheinbaum, for their invaluable coordination and collaboration. The synergy between our local administration and the Mexico City government has been crucial in reinforcing institutional presence and ensuring a swift response to incidents.
