Maipú: PDI investigates shooting that left one dead and three injured

A violent incident unfolded in the commune of Maipú, Chile, late Wednesday night, leaving one person dead and three others injured following a suspected exchange of gunfire. The victims began arriving at the El Carmen Hospital in succession, with the first arriving by private vehicle. Subsequently, a second vehicle was found abandoned at the hospital, carrying an injured driver and a 26-year-old Chilean national who was pronounced dead due to multiple gunshot wounds.

A fourth individual, also suffering from gunshot wounds, was transported to the same hospital via ambulance. Preliminary information suggests that all involved parties were connected to the same event, though the precise location where the shooting occurred and its origin remain subjects of an ongoing investigation. The Public Ministry has directed the Organized Crime and Homicide Unit (ECOH) to take charge of the case.

The Investigative Police (PDI), specifically the Metropolitan Homicide Brigade, are currently conducting various investigative actions to determine responsibility for the shooting. This incident underscores the persistent challenges with gun violence in the region, prompting a thorough investigation to bring those responsible to justice and to understand the circumstances that led to this tragic outcome.
