Major General Nguyen Van Bua Nominated for posthumous Hero of the People's Armed Forces Title

Major General Nguyen Van Bua, a distinguished veteran and former Deputy Commander of Military Region 7, has been nominated for the posthumous title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. This honor recognizes his exceptional service during the war against the U.S. for national salvation.

Born in 1922 in Gia Dinh province, now Ho Chi Minh City, Major General Bua dedicated over 40 years to revolutionary activities. He progressed from the rank of private to Major General, ultimately serving as Deputy Commander of Military Region 7. Throughout his career, he maintained unwavering revolutionary qualities, demonstrating absolute loyalty to the Party, the nation, and the people.

His military career was marked by fierce determination, courage, and strategic brilliance. Before the August Revolution in 1945, he organized and led a local militia unit. During the Southern resistance war, he joined the army and quickly rose through the ranks, commanding units in numerous successful engagements in the Southeast region.

Notable among his achievements are his leadership in the Trung Hung battle in 1946, where his unit inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy, and the Phu My Hung battle in 1947. He also commanded the successful attack on the Can Gio district in 1951, which included sinking a 10,000-ton ship and destroying over 500 million liters of gasoline. From 1952 to 1954, he led a strategic transport battalion, ensuring the delivery of thousands of tons of weapons and supplies from Central Vietnam to the resistance base, maintaining a vital strategic supply line.

After graduating from Nanjing Military Academy in China in 1961, he was recalled to South Vietnam. He served as Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Eastern Military Region, playing a key role in organizing and commanding combined forces in operations that employed effective "point attack, reinforce annihilation" tactics. He was also appointed to the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Command of the Central Nam Bo Campaign.
