Malaysian Gearheads Unite: Second Meetup Strengthens Local Music Community

The Gear Nerds Meetup Vol. 2 has underscored the growing passion for music equipment, or "gear," within Malaysia's vibrant music scene. Held at LBS Music World in Penang, the event drew a diverse crowd, including guitarists, studio owners, sound engineers, product distributors, and audio technology aficionados, demonstrating the expanding interest in the field.

The world of music is always changing, so if we are open to learning, we will realize that current technology actually makes the work of musicians easier, whether in the studio or during live performances.

Following the success of its inaugural event in Pahang, this second meetup was scaled up, offering a comprehensive program. Attendees engaged in product demonstrations, participated in question-and-answer sessions, shared valuable experiences, and had hands-on opportunities to try out a wide array of digital and analog music equipment. A particular highlight was guitarist Shah Sidious of Cromok, who showcased the Kemper Profiler Stage's ability to produce diverse guitar tones without the need for multiple amplifiers during live performances.

Guitarist Apek from Tebabo also impressed attendees by demonstrating the NUX MG-50Li. Despite its affordable multi-effects category, the device proved its capability to compete with significantly higher-priced products in terms of tone quality, features, and performance. Sidious emphasized the meetup's focus on community education, creating a space for musicians from various backgrounds to exchange knowledge and experiences in an ever-evolving technological landscape.

The first edition in Sarang Keras gave us confidence that this community truly exists and continues to grow. That's why we brought Gear Nerds Meetup to Penang so that more musicians in the north can participate.

Organizers from NF Venture expressed that the success of the Gear Nerds Meetup is measured not just by attendance but by its effectiveness in uniting the local music community. The positive reception of the first two editions has spurred plans to expand the meetup to other states, recognizing the strong presence of gear enthusiasts in Malaysia who previously lacked a dedicated platform for gathering and sharing expertise.
