Teenager Fatally Shot in Montevideo; Seven Shell Casings Found at Scene

A 17-year-old male was fatally shot in the Santa Catalina neighborhood of Montevideo on Sunday night, according to reports from the Ministry of the Interior. The incident occurred in the area of Burdeos and Los Geranios streets and is currently under police investigation.

Authorities found the young victim, who had no criminal record, with gunshot wounds near his home. He was rushed to the Hospital del Cerro by Republican Guard personnel, where medical teams attempted to save him. Despite their efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries at 8:15 PM, as confirmed by the hospital's medical diagnosis.

During the investigation at the crime scene, police officers discovered seven .22 caliber shell casings. These casings have been collected as evidence and incorporated into the ongoing investigation. Forensic police conducted the relevant survey and worked on gathering further evidence from the site.
