Man found dead with gunshot wound, police investigate homicide possibility

Authorities are investigating the suspicious death of a 45-year-old man discovered with a gunshot wound to the head inside his residence in Toledo Chico. Police sources confirmed the grim discovery was made on Saturday night at a home on Av. José Belloni and Camino Régulo.

Forensic teams examined the scene, and the prosecutor's office has ordered an autopsy. Initial reports from Telemundo indicated the victim was found seated in a chair with significant blood loss. However, the absence of a firearm at the scene has complicated the investigation. Investigators are considering two primary hypotheses: that the man died by suicide and someone subsequently removed the weapon, or that he was murdered and the perpetrator left no evidence.

In a separate incident on Saturday night, a 17-year-old was fatally shot in the Santa Catalina neighborhood of Montevideo. The young victim, who had no prior criminal record, was found injured near his home and rushed to the Hospital del Cerro by Republican Guard personnel. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. Police recovered seven .22 caliber shell casings from the crime scene, which have been collected as evidence.
