Man arrested in Serbia for threatening family with gun, illegal weapons possession

Authorities in Pančevo, Serbia, have arrested a 51-year-old man identified as M.P. on suspicion of domestic violence and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. The suspect allegedly subjected his wife and three daughters, including two minors, to verbal abuse and threats, brandishing a pistol at them.

In accordance with Serbia's Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence, M.P. has been temporarily removed from his home and is prohibited from contacting or approaching the victims. During a search of his property, police discovered and confiscated a pistol with eight rounds, a hunting rifle with a scope, and a hunting rifle, along with dozens of various caliber ammunition rounds, none of which he possessed permits for.

Adding to the charges, M.P. is also accused of insulting a police officer while being brought to the police station. He has been detained for up to 48 hours and will be brought before the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Pančevo with a criminal complaint.
