Man Arrested in Sonora for Shooting Belgian Shepherd; Faces Animal Cruelty Charges

Authorities in Bácum, Sonora, have arrested a 46-year-old man, identified as Valentín "N," for allegedly shooting a Belgian Shepherd dog. The incident occurred on May 20, 2026, when the dog, named "More," reportedly entered the suspect's property.

According to the investigation, the dog's owner heard a gunshot and later discovered "More" with two wounds from a firearm. When confronted, Valentín "N" allegedly admitted to firing the shots, stating the animal had trespassed on his property. This admission led to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

The arrest was carried out on July 25, 2026. Valentín "N" has been placed at the disposal of a judge and is currently detained at the Center for Social Reintegration (Cereso) in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora. He faces charges for probable responsibility in the crime of animal cruelty.
