Man attempting to kill wife instead kills another woman in Kayseri building

A shocking act of violence has shaken Kayseri, where a man's alleged attempt to murder his estranged wife resulted in the death of an innocent bystander. İlhan Şahan, a retired sergeant, reportedly went to the apartment of his wife, Yasemin Şahan, with whom he is in the process of divorcing. However, instead of confronting his wife, Şahan allegedly attacked and fatally stabbed Melek Gül, the wife of the building's janitor, whom he encountered in the building.

Following the attack, Şahan reportedly attempted to force his way into his wife's apartment but fled when he was unsuccessful. Emergency services were called, and Gül was transported to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Şahan later surrendered to the gendarmerie and has since been arrested and formally charged with intentional homicide.
