Man Hospitalized After Montevideo Shooting; Dog Attack Reported in Rivera

A shooting in Montevideo's Jacinto Vera neighborhood left a 26-year-old man hospitalized with a chest wound. The incident occurred Tuesday at the intersection of Gustavo Gallinal and Lorenzo Fernández. Police are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Authorities recovered five 9mm shell casings and a projectile from the scene, which were examined by forensic police. Reports indicate that a person working at a nearby car wash found the injured man and transported him to the Hospital Español, where he is currently undergoing surgery. Another report suggests the man was attacked by an individual who exited a moving vehicle.

In a separate incident in the department of Rivera, three women aged 34, 37, and 39 were attacked by a large dog, reportedly of the Cimarrón breed. The women sustained injuries of varying severity and required medical treatment. The attack occurred on Juan Manuel Blanes street in the Mandubí neighborhood.

According to the dog's owner, the animal was up-to-date on its vaccinations. Two of the women suffered approximately five-centimeter cuts on their forearms, while the third sustained an abrasion on her right leg. The case is under investigation by the 3rd Turn Prosecutor's Office, which has ordered medical examinations for the victims and referred the case to the National Animal Welfare Institute.
