Man sentenced to over four years for extorting elderly victim with intimate videos

A 32-year-old man in Uruguay has been sentenced to four years and one month in prison for extorting a 69-year-old victim. The court found the man guilty of demanding money from the older victim under the threat of releasing intimate videos and making false accusations.

The investigation, led by prosecutor Serrana Corsino, revealed that the victim initially paid $20,000, which he obtained through a loan, after receiving the initial threats. However, the convicted man continued to demand further payments through WhatsApp messages and in-person meetings, reiterating his threats to disseminate the private material or falsely accuse the victim.

Evidence gathered included the victim's statements, written messages, and audio recordings sent by the perpetrator. Forensic analysis by police also corroborated the extortion scheme. The case highlights the severe consequences of such criminal activities and the thoroughness of the investigation in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
