Man Killed, Another Injured in Montevideo Shooting; Third Homicide in 24 Hours

A violent shooting in Montevideo's Conciliación neighborhood has resulted in the death of a 31-year-old man and injuries to another. The incident occurred on Pasaje Saenz Peña and Mario Orrico when two men, standing outside a residence, were attacked by individuals in a red car who opened fire. Police responded to emergency calls reporting the shooting and the injured individuals.

Upon arrival, officers found the two men, one of whom was unconscious. Both were transported to a medical facility. The 38-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and is reported to be out of danger. Tragically, the 31-year-old victim, who had a gunshot wound below his left arm, died while receiving medical assistance. Police have secured the scene and collected shell casings for forensic analysis as they work to identify the suspects and determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.

This fatal shooting is the third homicide to occur in Montevideo in less than 24 hours. Earlier on Tuesday, a 40-year-old man was killed in the Marconi neighborhood during an exchange of gunfire. In the early hours of Wednesday, another shooting in the Borro neighborhood left one man dead and another wounded. The victim in Marconi was found injured next to a bicycle and later pronounced dead. The Borro incident involved a 27-year-old man with a prior criminal record who died after being shot, while a 23-year-old woman was also injured.
