The intercepted cannabis, described as "skunk"—a potent variety of hydroponic marijuana—was discovered hidden within a shipment of legitimate goods, namely kitchen rolls and napkins, aboard a truck bearing Bulgarian license plates. This sophisticated concealment method points to the organized nature of the criminal enterprise. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is a staggering 1.7 million euros, indicating the immense profitability of this trade and the scale of the operation disrupted.

The key to this successful interdiction was "Vlad," a specially trained narcotics detection dog whose keen senses led officers to the hidden contraband within the truck. The truck had recently arrived from Italy, suggesting a well-established route for the traffickers. While the 50-year-old driver has been arrested, he has reportedly been uncooperative with authorities, hindering immediate efforts to dismantle the wider network. Greek police suspect the primary destination for this high-value cargo was Turkey, a major market for narcotics, with a smaller portion likely intended for the Greek domestic market.
