Melaka CM: Stop social media seat-sharing talks, negotiate face-to-face

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf Yusoh has firmly advised political parties against using social media as a platform for negotiating seat allocations for the upcoming Melaka State Election (PRN).

He stressed the importance of direct, face-to-face discussions to establish the most effective strategy for cooperation. "To all involved parties, you can come and negotiate. There is no need to voice it on social media; instead, it needs to be discussed face-to-face with BN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi or meet me directly," Ab Rauf stated.

The Chief Minister, who also chairs Barisan Nasional (BN) Melaka, believes that public negotiations on social media can foster unhealthy perceptions and hinder the formation of strong political alliances. Ab Rauf confirmed that no official seat-sharing discussions have taken place yet. However, he noted that the BN+ concept implemented in Melaka allows any party interested in cooperation to come forward for discussions. He emphasized that all proposals would be carefully evaluated and studied based on mutual benefit before any final decisions are made.

Despite the ongoing discussions, BN Melaka is determined to defend all 21 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats it secured in the 2021 state election. Ab Rauf cautioned against using the results of the general election as the sole measure for seat allocation in the upcoming state polls, highlighting BN Melaka's efforts and service to the people.
