Mexico City Prosecutor Achieves First Virtual Reparative Agreement; Defendant to Pay 10,000 Pesos for Damages

This innovative approach, facilitated by the Attorney General's Office (FGJCDMX), represents a crucial step in strengthening alternative dispute resolution mechanisms (MASC) and prioritizing the reparation of damages over lengthy judicial proceedings.

The virtual agreement, conducted via video call on April 24, 2026, resolved a case of alleged fraudulent administration. The accused, located in Cancún, acknowledged responsibility and agreed to pay 10,000 pesos in damages by August 31, 2026. This case demonstrates the practical application and effectiveness of virtual mediation, overcoming geographical barriers.

This milestone is supported by a comprehensive training program for 160 public servants, focusing on mediation, conciliation, and restorative justice. The program, running from April to September 2026, aims to equip officials with the skills needed to expand the use of alternative mechanisms.
